Technology of preparation and treatment of grain crop seeds

    Basic requirements for seed processing.
To effectively use seed treatment agents, it is important to strictly follow the established recommendations. This will ensure maximum plant protection and increased yield.
Basic requirements for seed processing.
Seed material: Use only high-quality seeds, free of foreign matter and calibrated according to the requirements of GOST 52325-2005.
Temperature plays an important role in the treatment process. The water used to prepare the working solution should be at least 10°C, with a range of 12-15°C considered optimal. Seed treatment at temperatures below 10°C is not recommended.
Consumption standards call for 10-20 liters of working solution per ton of seed. Uniform application of the seed treatment agent should ensure a coefficient of variation of no more than 30%.
The type of active ingredient determines the treatment method:
- Contact agents (thiram, fipronil, fludioxonil) require maximum coverage of the seed surface. - Systemic seed dressings (tebuconazole, azoxystrobin, imidacloprid) allow less complete coverage.
Quality control of treatment includes:
• Minimizing mechanical damage to seeds
• Adhering to the seed treatment application rate (deviation no more than ±3%)
• Ensuring product retention at a level of at least 70%
The moisture content of treated seeds must meet the following requirements:
- No more than 14% for long-term storage
- Up to 16% for current crop seeds
Compatibility of the products is checked using the "jar test":
• Mix the components in a glass container with water according to the instructions
• Mix the solution thoroughly and let it settle
• If the mixture remains clear and there is no sediment, the mixture is considered compatible
Water quality must meet the following parameters:
- Transparency and colorlessness
- Optimum temperature of 12-15°C
- Defined pH, hardness, and salinity values
Maintenance of the seed treatment unit includes:
• Emptying the tank after use
• Cleaning the chamber of seed residues
• Checking the fasteners and mechanisms
• Troubleshooting Leaks
• Preventive dust removal
Strict adherence to all process parameters ensures maximum treatment efficiency and the desired economic results. Safety regulations and environmental standards must be strictly observed during the work.
