EVAGUARD® PE5
EVAGUARD® PE5 is an aromatic alcohol with an ether bond and a light rose scent. This component is one of the most widely used preservatives in cosmetics. It can also be used as a fixative in perfume compositions and in pharmaceuticals for topical application. Due to its excellent dissolving properties, it is easily integrated into various formulas. It is a well-proven cosmetic ingredient, approved worldwide and recognized as safe.
EVAGUARD® PE5 has a pronounced antibacterial effect. Its mechanism of action includes inhibition of enzymes involved in the Krebs cycle, as well as disruption of the permeability of bacterial cell membranes, which leads to leakage of intracellular contents. Even at concentrations below the minimum inhibitory concentration, phenoxyethanol alters the permeability of the membranes of gram-negative bacteria, such as E. coli, enhancing the effect of other antimicrobial components.
